Finite-amplitude method for collective inertia in spontaneous fission

Background: Microscopic description of spontaneous fission is one the most challenging subjects in nuclear physics. It necessary to evaluate collective potential and inertia along a path for quantum tunneling or low-energy fission. In past studies dynamics based on energy density functional (EDF) theory, has been evaluated with cranking approximation, which neglects dynamical residual effects. Purpose: The purpose provide reliable efficient method include effects dynamics. Methods: We use local quasiparticle random-phase approximation (LQRPA) obtained by constrained Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov Skyrme EDF. finite-amplitude (FAM) contour integration technique enables us efficiently compute large model space. Results: FAM-QRPA symmetric $^{240}$Pu $^{256}$Fm. significantly larger than shows pronounced peaks around ground state isomer. This due Conclusions: To describe fission, we construct that have neglected EDF-based works past. show importance inertia. work will be starting point systematic study heavy superheavy nuclei microscopically large-amplitude motions.
